Then get involved in SOULFIRE THEATRE and help create New British Bangladeshi
Theatre.

SOULFIRE THEATRE aims to establish British Bangladeshi theatre by creating a
theatrical voice and practice that communicates and expresses our concerns and
stories. We aim to bring this voice from the margins to the centre of national
life. We intend to create forms that express our very nature physically and
emotionally by inventing new forms that are appropriate to us not just British or
just Bangladeshi. Therefore we believe in experimenting with all theatrical forms
and stories to help to create our artist identity and mode of communication.

Our ambition is to nurture, encourage and create a generation of theatre artists
to begin the process of developing professional theatre that is uniquely British
Bangladeshi. We want this professional theatre practice always to be connected to
the community with the stories that we tell and the people that come to the group.
We also want to express our sensibility and concerns through the classics of world
theatre - Greek tragedy and Shakespeare. We intend to challenge the perceptions of
British Bangladeshi amongst the wider community but also at the same time within
the British Bangladeshi community.
